Nematology

Nematology is a branch of microbiology and also the study of nematodes. Nematodes are a varied collection of creatures that resemble worms. They can be found in almost any habitat that can support life, including freshwater, saltwater, different types of soil, and inside of humans and other animals as parasites. Although most species are tiny, others can grow to be several metres long. However, certain nematodes, known as plant-parasitic nematodes, parasitize plants in addition to being microbial feeders or predators of other soil creatures. It is widely acknowledged that plant-parasitic nematodes provide one of the biggest threats to crops. Nematodes have been shown to attack nearly every part of the plant, including the roots, stems, leaves, fruits, and seeds, either independently or in conjunction with other soil microbes. More information regarding nematodes will be covered during the Microbiology Conference 2023.
